In our section 'Employees in the spotlight' we like to show which people are behind our organisation. Every day Archive-IT is committed to support organisations in the transition from a paper to a digital working environment. Besides that we develop software to guarantee safe digital accessibility. But who does what? And what are the motivations of the Archive-IT team members? Time for a look behind the scenes.
This time, Roel Janssen is in the spotlight. Roel joined Archive-IT in July 2022 as Account Manager for our Dutch office. We would like to introduce him to you!
Can you tell us something about your role at Archive-IT?
"I work at Archive-IT as an Account Manager. I do this together with my colleagues from Archive-IT’s Sales team in the Netherlands. My role as Account Manager means that on the one hand I have a portfolio of existing customers, where relationship management is paramount, and on the other hand I am responsible for generating new business."
How long have you been working at Archive-IT and what did you do before this?
"I have been working at Archive-IT since July this year, so a good four months now. Before this, I worked for a logistics organisation for over three years, also in the role of Account Manager. The customers in my portfolio were mainly located in the Benelux. Both at Archive-IT and at my previous job, I have to deal with customers as an Account Manager. The customer demand and the sector I operate in now is quite different from the transport sector. Now I am much more occupied with IT-related questions and find myself in completely different organisations. That really took some switching, but that also makes it a real challenge."
What does your average working day look like?
At the moment, I am mainly busy getting to know our services and solutions well. Surely it takes some time to get to know all the ins and outs. I think this is very important, because only then can I give good advice to potential customers. I am also busy picking up a few leads, which I approach and can advise on a good solution for their needs. I then look together with my colleagues for a suitable proposal and this is how we try to achieve a good end result. Another important task is getting to know the clients I have been assigned to my portfolio. I do this mostly through internal consultations and appointments with the customer. Of course, I've only been here for four months; I've got a lot to deal with! But it's really cool to make all these puzzle pieces fit together."
What motivates you most in your work?
"The great diversity of solutions we offer is super motivating! The great thing is that you start with a certain question from the customer and after internal fine-tuning, conversations back and forth, you come up with new insights. I really like this diversity and it also ensures that you are always stimulated to look for the best solution instead of: 'ah the customer asks X; then the answer is Y.'
What are your goals for the coming period?
"Getting to know the clients I have in my portfolio as well as I can. My goal is to sit at the table there myself to experience what is going on. I also want to explore whether there might be other issues we can help the client in question with. So in that sense, I want to map out the existing business very well and even expand it where possible. On the other hand, there is also the new business. It is also definitely one of my goals to bind new customers to Archive-IT in order to generate more turnover! In addition, I am very keen to get to know and understand the technical side of our software even better. This way, I am able to advise companies even better and am therefore also a full-fledged discussion partner."
Nice to know: Roel is quite athletic. He used to always play football, but an injury unfortunately forced him to stop. Now he works out four times a week: he does tennis as well as fitness and darts. During lockdowns, he created a home gym with his own fitness equipment. As he still has a passion for football, he coaches a driven team of friends where he played football for many years.
What makes Archive-IT the organisation you enjoy working for?
"Archive-IT is growing, so I see a lot of potential. Think of the acquisition of Van Dinther earlier this year. That offers new opportunities for us as well. But what strikes me most is the internal cooperation. Take the Sales & Marketing department, for instance; they really work very closely and intensively together. That's why I like working at Archive-IT. There are no islands where everyone does their own thing, but we are a team. In addition, the huge amount of knowledge Archive-IT has in house is also a real plus. I learn every day and I need that to stay challenged!"
