In our section ‘Employees in the spotlight’ we like to show which people are behind our organization. Every day Archive-IT is committed to support organisations in the transition from a paper to a digital working environment. Besides that, we develop software to guarantee safe digital accessibility. But who does what? And what are the motivations of the Archive-IT team members? Time for a look behind the scenes.
This time Erik Heijkants is in the spotlight. Erik is working for Archive-IT as a Senior Consultant since September 2021. We would like to introduce him to you!
How long have you been working at Archive-IT and what did you do before?
"I have been working at Archive-IT since 1 September 2021. I started my career in 1996 and have had many different jobs since then. I started as a field service engineer and developed into a project manager. In addition, I have worked as an IT manager for several years, which has given me an even better understanding of what is happening on the customer's side. In short, various functions, all related to technology, IT, project management and consultancy."
Can you tell us more about the position you have now?
"As a Senior Consultant I advise clients and help with project management. I also manage a number of people, especially in project management and the realisation of hours. Of course, my job has changed because of the pandemic. I prefer to sit together with people instead of via online meetings. Applications such as Teams are obviously easy to communicate quickly, but if you have to do things together, it's still easier to do it face-to-face. You get a much better feel for the project, the people around you and there is less noise on the line."
What does your average working day look like?
"At the moment we are implementing a new ERP system, so that takes up a lot of time. Normally, I'm mainly busy with customer contact and ensuring that projects are set up and completed properly. In addition to project management, we advise clients on which path is best for their challenge. Empathising with and understanding the challenges of our customers and translating these, together with the team, into the most appropriate technical solution(s) is a must in my work."
Nice to know: Erik is a big fan of Formula 1. He can be found at the race in Austria every year and the tickets for next season have already been ordered. He goes every year with his son and some friends and can fully enjoy the atmosphere and the sociability.
What motivates you most in your work?
"What motivates me the most are my colleagues. They are all very motivated and there is a good atmosphere. Everyone is on the same page and full of ambition. The fact that the whole organisation is very helpful creates a real team spirit and that motivates me."
What are your goals at Archive-IT?
"My goals at Archive-IT are to optimise and grow. Both on a personal level as well as on an organisational level. My goal is to help Archive-IT get a larger market share in the Netherlands, Germany, Belgium and France."
